I am currently doing a project on FAS - basically because I hope to be a midwife some day and also because I know nothing at all about it as do a lot of other people. It really disturbs me that more is not being done to prevent FAS. Why is the government giving us guidelines what is "safe" when clearly they dont know what is safe - safe is no alcohol. I must say when I was pregnant only 18 months ago alcohol was never mentioned by any health profession I came in contact with. Thank goodness I never did drink when I was pregnant - but I know of many women who follow the "safe" government guidelines and enjoy a drink whilst pregnant. The Government seems to be more interested in smoking during pregnancy and drugs when clearly the worse one of the lot is drinking!! Im sure if it was brought to the attention of more people by the media and government FAS would be reduced.

My daughter, after being suicidal at age 6 1/2 because 'she was no good' (teacher's comments about her test result)and her inablility to concentrate or remember, has just received the first three of her GCSE results today. Two Bs and a C. She has fought her way from suicidal thoughts through self-harm (cutting her arms)to this result. She is totally amazing.
